Our Review
88 Minutes is Al Pacinos latest film, it starts off well as we have some female nudity within the first scene! That can only be a good sign.
Pacino is a Forensic Psychiatrist, he has helped convict a serial killer who is about to be excecuted. But things are not right, people are still being killed in the style of the killer, casting doubt on his guilt.
Roughly 20 minutes into the film Pacino receives a phone calling telling him he has 88 minutes to live, which is where the title of the film comes in. Funnily enough the film has about that much time left to run, but it is not done in real time '24' fashion.
It is from this moment that the film really gathers pace, Pacino is at his best as he races to find out who is responsible for the threat.
You get constant reminders of how many minutes are left for Pacino through various methods, whether it is written on the window of his car, told to him through his phone, projected onto the wall, and so on.
This all helps build the tension, and boy does this film have tension, which grows throughout the film.
I have never been a big Pacino fan, but I was really impressed by this film, it is paced almost perfectly and the ending is excellent.
I would give this film a good 8/10.
