Video : Penn & Teller Bullsh*t - Series 6 Episode 2: "New Age Medicine"
on 2008/7/4 17:09:43 (294 reads)
Nobody ever gets sick in China. Okay, that would be true if Eastern Medicine were actually worth a monkey's ass. But here’s the truth: sticking acupuncture needles in your feet will not cure your asthma; the Chinese practice of cupping does nothing more than leave ugly red marks on your back; and the Japanese “art” of reiki won’t channel your spiritual energy for healing – it’ll just channel your money into the reiki “artist’s” pocket.
At least Tiger Penis soup tastes delicious, even if it – like all the other Chinese herbal potions – doesn’t cure a damn thing. We're taking down the charlatans who prey on the seriously ill with this unproven, unscientific, and unbelievably dumb type of "medicine."

Newsnight decided to investigate Homeopathy, so they choose 10 random Homoepaths from the internet, 10 out of the 10 they choose gave murderously stupid advice on Malaria prevention.
Spokesperson Melanie Oxley is invited onto Newsnight to defend Homeopathy, but as a homeopath herself she ends up making herself look stupid and uneducated.
Luckily sceptic and scientist Simon Singh is on hand to give a rational and intelligent viewpoint.

Article : The Essence of Flower Essences
on 2008/5/10 23:07:42 (466 reads)
Do you mistrust your own decisions? Are you feeling guilty? Perhaps you can be intolerant or feel impatient. Are you unwell? Suffer from asthma?
Well, if I told you four drops of brandy taken in water throughout the day could cure your mental turmoil and thus let your body heal itself would you believe me? What if I said it was special brandy that had a drop of water in which a flower had been floated added to it? Or a twig. Still not convinced?

Article : Ursula Schmid Knows How To Cure Cancer*
on 2008/4/28 22:13:50 (669 reads)
*or so she likes to think.
"Healing cancer. Naturally!" is a website designed and written by Ursula Schmid of Berlin, Germany. Through the site she aims to provide "an all-round 'holistic' view of the many natural ways that have been used to heal cancer."
"Healing cancer. naturally!" is at the top of search engine lists should you search for "healing cancer" or anything similar, yet a closer inspection of the site shows that it is infact full of very dangerous information.

The third member of the UUKPS triumvirate of founder members is Andy Porter, who is also a professional soul rescuer.
Of the three founder members of the Unity of UK Psychic Surgeons only one is a virtually unknown quantity - Andy Porter. Gary Mannion and Nina Knowland have hogged the limelight for long enough, let's give Andy a chance!
His website (andy-porter.co.uk) is a bit short on biographical details, but he wastes no time in introducing his readers to the wonderful world of psychic surgery:

Article : A Look At The Essex Spirit Guide Website - By Meercat
on 2008/4/22 13:46:57 (616 reads)
It's not often I am provoked into writing an article because 'I'm not allowed to get my point across', but EssexSpiritGuide.co.uk have left me little choice.
There are not many things in this life that annoy me, (he lied) but 'censorship' is one of them. To see a situation where only one side of the story is put across, all others are deleted as it 'upsets the applecart', is, for want of a better word, pathetic.

Article : Gary Mannion FINALLY Withdraws "Cancer" Testimonial
on 2008/3/6 22:57:37 (270 reads)
Exposing New Age charlatans can be a frustrating business. E-mails to newspaper editors, trading standards authorities, MPs, doctors and scientists tend to go unanswered for weeks or are ignored completely, as are phone messages left on answering machines. But perseverance DOES pay off, as BP has discovered this week.
You may remember that a testimonial from "Rodger Andrews", insinuating that his terminal cancer disappeared two days after being treated by Gary Mannion, recently appeared on two of Gary's sites. I reported what seemed to me to be a breach of the Cancer Act to Gary's local Trading Authority, Brent and Harrow. It took some time to get a reply but in the meantime Gary toned down the wording of Andrews' testimonial on garymannion.com. I suspected that someone from Trading Standards must have had a word in Gary's ear, and sure enough an e-mail from Winston Brooks of Brent and Harrow TS confirmed that this was the case - Gary had been given a verbal warning.

Article : Nina Knowland - 'The art of not knowing when to shut up'
on 2008/1/20 10:40:00 (362 reads)
I really do hate having to repeat myself, but people like Knowland insist on forcing me to. I could just print the link to the original article on her like this:
http://badpsychics.com/thefraudfiles/modules/news/article.php?storyid=603
and be done with it, but Nina has obviously never heard of the phrase, 'When you're in a hole, stop digging'.
As you will be aware, Nina is a 'spiritual healer' although she lists no medical training or experience on her website, just Counselling Skills Module 1, Counselling Skills Module 2, Certificate in working with special needs Children and some worthless certificates from the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.

Article : Spiritual Healer - Dr. Helena Steiner-Hornsteyn "Trust me, I'm not a Doctor.."
on 2008/1/13 12:30:52 (468 reads)
As you are all aware, I'm very easily confused. It doesn't take much at all to be honest. So you will appreciate my state of mind after reading Dr. Helena Steiner-Hornsteyn's website. It was the equivalent of suffering an LSD flashback whilst playing 'Deal or no Deal' at the same time as trying to sort out David and Victoria Beckhams clothes into two separate piles.
Dr. Helena Steiner-Hornsteyn is an 'Interfaith Ordained Minister'. This as you are all very well aware means very little. A large number of the members of BadPsychics are 'Interfaith Ordained Ministers', myself included, I've always thought The Reverend Meercat has a nice ring to it. Mind you, my dog is also an Ordained Minister (although i had to set up an email account for it first)
